Supervises:

Service Clerks/Writers, Service Technicians, Shop Foreman, and Service Staff

Purpose:

Oversees service operations within the dealership to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. Grows profitable service labor sales and exercises disciplined expense control. Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedules and assigns jobs and work areas to employees in the Service Department according to their skills and knowledge
  • Assists with the development and training of service personnel and may complete performance reviews of service staff
  • Ensure that New Model Qualification training is being completed when required
  • Communicates, enforces, and monitors effective Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Monitor Service Call Schedule and Pick up & Delivery schedule to ensure trucking efficiency
  • Monitors service sales on a monthly basis to ensure achievement of budgeted sales and profit goals
  • Monitor and assist Service Writer and technician’s daily activities
  • Participates in the development and execution of the Corporate Service Marketing Plan
  • Reviews work orders for completeness and estimates for accuracy prior to customer billing or approval
  • Ensures all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are clean and in good working order
  • Manages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this position
  • May assist the Corporate Service Manager in developing processes and procedures and to develop and follow an annual Service Department budget
  • Ensures that company policies are being followed
  • Ensure cleanliness of work spaces, shop and overall facilities
  • Attend mandatory Managers Meetings & hold weekly staff meetings
  • Assist with customer complaints in a professional manor with best resolutions for the customer and the company
  • Assist in writing work orders when needed
  • Assist with keeping open work order reports in order and managed
  • Building morel among employees

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

  • 3+ years experience in Service Department operations
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
  • Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups
  • Familiar with John Deere and competitive products
  • Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
